Get those snapping fingers ready because Wednesday and the rest of the Addams Family are back. When it premiered in 2022, the spin-off series broke Netflix’s viewership records. It’s been three years, and now, after what feels like an eternity of finger-tapping and deadpan looks into the void, season 2 is here.
So, basically, Goth summer is upon us.
Creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough previously teased that season 2 will be darker in tone. This new run of episodes “definitely has some moments which are more straightforward horror,” Millar told EW. Praise be.
Jenna Ortega is back as the titular hero. Joining her are returning cast members Isaac Ordonez, who plays her brother Pugsley, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair and Victor Dorobantu as Thing. Newcomers to the show include Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump, Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort, Nevermore Academy’s new principal, and Lady Gaga as Rosaline Rotwood, a mysterious teacher at Nevermore.
The Grammy-winning artist delivered an epic live performance to close out this year’s Tudum fan event for Netflix. I was there, and it was rather life-affirming. This ain’t hyperbole. Now, rumor has it that Gaga will release a new song, titled Dead Dance, timed to her appearance on the series.
If you needed an extra reason to tune into these new episodes, there you go.
